robberMaterial theft continues to be a growing problem throughout the scrap metal industry. United Recycling inc. is fully committed to working with local authorities and affected parties to stop the acceptance of stolen material by all recyclers. Our policies are designed to comply with all current laws and regulations, and we continually train our employees so they can better recognize stolen or prohibited materials.

One way United Recycling Inc. is working to reduce the possibility of receiving material that was unlawfully obtained is to identify each seller.

Any vehicle being scrapped must have the battery removed, and a hole in the gas tank at least six (6) inches in diameter. All vehicles require a title in order to sell as scrap metal.

Shreddable Tin

This category includes ferrous material less than 0.25 inches thick. Examples of shreddable tin are: Appliances, and Sheet metal.

Heavy Metal

This category includes ferrous material more than 0.25 inches thick. Examples include: I-Beams, Oversized items such as heavy equipment, Cast Iron.

Metal recycling is the process of reusing old metal material, mainly aluminum and steel, to make new products. 

Aluminum is an ore, which is a mineral, and it usually exists by combining with oxygen. To make an aluminum product an electrical current is run through the metal and separates the oxygen from the aluminum. The aluminum is then melted and shaped into various products.
